Our experience covers the most active sectors of the Romanian economy:
Our experience in this sector is truly extensive. We have worked in hundreds of projects within this sector, including with the biggest banks and insurance companies in this country and we are very familiar with the sector and its challenges. (One of the biggest problems of the sector, at this point in time, (2014) certainly is the over-sized dimension of the sector, in the condition of increased regulatory pressure.
Our experience resulting from our role of advisors to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (2012-2013) is also a very valuable one, which gives us visibility and reach in the capital market as well. You can read more about the state of the banking sector in our historic analysis of the Romanian Banking System which we did in our CSR initiative Leadership.RO, by clicking here.
CONSUMER GOODS AND SERVICES
We have worked extensively with many FMCG companies, especially due to the fact that this sector was the first to enter Romania after 1990.
From food & drinks, to personal care & household goods, to modern trade, to media and advertising, we have covered the entire sector, especially during the ‘boom’ years, when their activity "exploded".
We are very impressed with the development of the sector over the years and we believe that this sector is the closest to the European standards in the Romanian economy.
We have worked in this sector extensively, especially after 2005. At a certain point in time we were working with the biggest three technology firms simultaneously (which is a difficult thing to achieve, in our industry).
We are familiar with working in most of the sub-sectors, from telecommunications companies to software companies and advanced technology production companies. The most intense activity during the last decade was in the telecom sub-sector, which grew phenomenally over the years and reached very quickly professional standards comparable with the ones reached in substantially more developed economies.
Industrial production was one of the most demanding sectors in which we have worked during the last 20 years. We have advised the biggest two automobile manufacturers (Renault & Ford),, the top two energy companies, as well as the biggest investors in food production and agribusiness.
We consider this sector to be one of the most promising ones in the Romanian economy, especially due to the potential of this country to offer alternative solutions to production relocation, but also, due to the enormous potential for growth in the infrastructure area.
The healthcare sector is also a very important part of our experience and an areas of great potential for the future. Although the growth of this sector continues to be affected by the inevitable interaction with the state administration of the health system in the country, the potential for growth remains very significant.
We are interested here not only in the growth of the large multinational producers of pharmaceutical products, but also in the services sector of the industry, which remains behind its true potential.
After 25 years of hesitant growth, the Romanian economy is still to achieve a significant number of entrepreneurial businesses in its structure. Nevertheless, we have advised some of the most significant entrepreneurs in this country, in the past 15 years, and we have witnessed their growth. This is why we are convinced that one of the areas with the most potential for growth is the family businesses sector.
The biggest challenge for them – in the following decade – will certainly be to achieve a transition to the 2nd generation which amplifies the growth of the company, beyond the retirement of the founder.
But this challenge cannot be separated from the one of changing and modernizing the company culture so that it copes with the departure of the founder and it prepares for growth by upgrading and improving its business procedures and tools. Such businesses need modern corporate governance structures which will facilitate and professionalize this process.
Our experience in this respect is truly unique, in this country, not only because we have been present in the picture from the beginnings of the sector, but because of our leading role in the effort to establish internationally valid norms and practices of good corporate governance.

The top professionals we have discovered come from all walks of life, all sectors and industries. The right person may come from very unexpected places. This is why we believe that although sector experience is important (as functional experience is), the fit with the client corporate culture and the future team remain paramount. For this reason, we believe that our leadership assessment capabilities and tools are very important in making sure that – beyond functional or managerial experience, or beyond exposure to the right industry – the most important hurdle to overcome is the fit with the organization.
